MRI
We have three dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suits in DCN Radiology. These are Philips Ingenia systems at 1.5 T, 3.0 T with a 3.0 T intraoperative imaging suite.
Our radiographers also provide OOH cover in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (shared site) for cauda equina imaging.
CT
Our unit has a Canon Aquilion One Genesis CT, with recent installation of two further similar units in the general radiology department in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Within DCN we provide tertiary neurological, neurosurgical and head and neck imaging, as well as support out-patient services for NHS Lothian.
We can offer CT perfusion for thrombectomy candidates, as well as providing CT-guided biopsy procedures for complex spinal and facial disease.
Angiography
DCN is delivering thrombectomy for stroke patients in the Edinburgh area, building on the vast expertise of the neurointerventional group on their nationwide subarachnoid / aneurysm experiences.
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasound in DCN Radiology in central to a number of services. We provide Doppler imaging in DCN and at other acute sites across NHS Lothian. Weekly head and neck ultrasound lists run on site, in addition to the radiologist support of the one stop neck lump clinics.
